Robinson Crusoe: Chapter Seven: I Build My Fortress
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

In chapter seven of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe...Crusoe looks to build a house to keep safe from savages. After finally finding a good area near the sea, he begins to build what  will become his walls. He then digs into a rock and builds a structure out of it that will serve as a cellar for his house. After many days of hard labor, he decides he needs to gather more supplies to finish his house. One night Crusoe is startled by a thunderstorm, and he becomes very worried that all of his gunpowder, which is stored in the cellar separate from his other supplies, will be destroyed. He is happy to see that it is safe in the morning, and he discovers many goats on the island, which he uses for food. Crusoe builds a large cross and marks it with "September 30, 1659", the day he arrived on the island. Crusoe decides every day he would put a   new mark on the cross. Crusoe builds a table and a chair, where he starts recording the good and bad things he's experienced. Crusoe watches for ships from the top of a little mountain, and is forced to stop his journal after running out of ink.

It is fun to see the adventure that Crusoe experiences in each chapter. I think it is fun to read and picture in my head. I like to put myself where he is in my head to see what I would do in a situation like that.

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

In chapter six of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe...Crusoe goes down to explore the remains of the ship. He decides to build a raft out of the lumber. After finding food, clothes, and fresh water, he sails down to a cove. He goes back and forth for a couple weeks until he finds the ship destroyed by a strong wind the night before.

I enjoy reading about Crusoe's adventures. It is fun to see what he does in each chapter. Now I get to look forward to seeing what he will do next to help him survive.
