In chapter four of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe...Crusoe lands in Brazil after twenty-two days. The generous captain charges him nothing for his voyage, and he buys some of the skins from animals Crusoe had killed. After parting with his friend Xury, Crusoe decides to become a tobacco farmer.
