Robinson Crusoe: Chapter Three: I Escape from the Sallee Rover
In chapter three of Robinson Crusoe...Crusoe escapes on a fishing expedition with two other slaves: a man named Ismael and a boy named Xury. Crusoe tricks Ismael and throws him overboard. Crusoe threatens to shoot him and demands he swim back to the shore. Xury agrees to be faithful in accompanying Robinson in a journey around the world. After traveling hundreds of miles along the Sallee River, Crusoe notices some animals on the shore. They manage to shoot and skin one which Crusoe believes are lions. They travel South until they see a tribe of black people which offer them food. The two are then picked up by a Portuguese ship. The kind captain takes the two to Brazil and buys them a boat.
